Quantum optic nonlinearities of a single quantum dot in a solid-state 1D waveguide

Single photon giant non-linearity paves the way for controlling a single photon with another single photon. This optical transistor would be very useful for the realization of logical gates in particular in the field of quantum information. Practically, we try to realize a "1D atom", that is a two-level system coupled to a single spatial mode. However, we faced up with several obstacles to achieve single atom nonlinearity. We will discuss how to deal with these problems.
