2nd Vienna Symposium on the Foundations of Modern Physics: June 11-14 2009 – in honour of Daniel Greenberger and Helmut Rauch
The 2nd Symposium on the Foundations of Modern Physics is part of a conference series devoted to foundational questions in modern physics. It is organized bi-annually by the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and by the Faculty of Physics at the University of Vienna. It will bring together many of the key scientists from all over the world working on the foundations of physics and will give them an opportunity to debate the prospects of new experimental and theoretical developments. It is the intention of the Symposium to cover a diverse range of approaches to foundational issues in modern physics and to deliberately encourage scientific discussion on innovative ideas that push the boundaries of our current understanding of physical laws.
We will also celebrate the 70th birthday of Helmut Rauch and the 75th birthday of Danny Greenberger. The symposium will be held in honour of these two leading creative figures in the foundations of quantum physics.
The speakers of the Symposium will cover a broad range of topics, among them:
* Foundations of Quantum Physics
* Foundations of Cosmology, Relativity, Quantum Gravity
* Fundamental Laws and Symmetries
* Fundamental Physics of Complex Systems
